The naturally crinkly guard hairs and thick underfur of the coyote are great alternatives to bucktail, synthetic fibers, and wool in many patterns, not exclusive to Clousers, mullets, tarpon bugs, sculpins, shrimps, craws, Gurgler tails, and various bucktail-type streamer patterns.
There is a high degree of individuality in coyote tails. Some are quite pale, some quite dark, and some have a ruddy cast to them. Tail lengths vary from 14" (36cm) to 17" (43cm) but are usually longer than shorter.
Hair length can be over 4" in some cases with most fur 2" (50mm) to 4"
(100mm).
