"The Firecracker Caddis is a design that was created after fishing the Firecracker Stone with huge success catching pressured trout in the western alpine streams and rivers. As far as hatches go on western rivers after the Stonefly one of the next most prevalent is the Caddis. With that in mind, I developed a Caddis pattern that would have similar properties; fast sinking, light and slender to cut through the water, just enough flash to catch the eye but not too much. 

Having a fly that is light but sinks rapidly due to a compact body allows the fly to be fished on lighter leaders and rods for better feel. The Firecracker Caddis mimics a Caddis larva breaking free from its casing.  The flash is strategically placed to draw the fish’s attention to the insect attempting to break out.  It works equally well as a dropper under a hopper pattern or on a euro nymphing setup. I hope it brings as many fish to the net for you as it has for me."
